Monica Johnson-Parkhill works as a grant writer for Boon. Monica received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Texas A&M University and her Master’s in Educational Administration from The University of North Texas. She worked in public education in Texas for 32 years as a teacher of gifted and talented students, a reading interventionist, and a certified academic language therapist working with students who struggled with reading, specifically dyslexia. She later became a principal and director of instruction and student services. In this latter role, she completed all parts of the grant process–researching, applying, implementing, and reporting. Monica brings that combined experience, knowledge, and skills to help Boon receive more grants to expand the Boon Reading Tutorial-Intervention Program.
Boon’s online giving platform allows contributors nationwide to unite and support teacher training that makes a big impact in communities across America, in real time, for individual teachers and students affected by a failing education system.
