James Allen McDaniel

Mr. McDaniel is a second-generation educator. His CoachMAC Consulting LLC in Palmetto, FL, is dedicated to sharing his deep career knowledge with schools and non-profits. Jim McDaniel has worked in leadership positions in education spanning over six decades. His passion for serving children and teachers has shaped his appointments and experience during this span. Jim served independent schools, Rumsey Hall, CT, Greenwich Country Day School, CT, where he was Upper School Learning Specialist, Fay School, MA., as Assistant Head, where he was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award. He was Head of Nantucket New School on the island of Nantucket, MA., and at Linden Hill School in Western Massachusetts. Jim moved to Florida to fill the role of Director of Development at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School. Jim was President of the Junior Boarding School Association, and has a broad understanding of how quality schools and non-profits operate, chairing 2 Independent School Accreditation (AISNE) Committees, and serving on 2 others. His community activities are highlighted by Rotary District 6960 naming Jim President of the Year (2023) for his leadership of the Rotary Club of Anna Maria Island, FL.

Jim received his BA from Hamilton College, N.Y., with a minor in the Classics and Latin. Teaching Latin and the associated etymology, he then pursued and attained his Masters in Educational Psychology: Remedial Reading from Columbia University’s Teachers College in NYC. As Head at Linden Hill School, Jim pursued his passions, developing a strong understanding of structured language and the science of reading, serving middle school boys with language-based learning differences and attention issues via an Orton-Gillingham-based program. Jim also involved top dyslexia researchers at Linden Hill through his association with Will Baker at The Dyslexia Foundation.

Spending time with wife Susan, children Ryan, Josh, Tiffany, Cody and grandson Brody is cherished.
